Four More Put Back on the Streets

Sorry I didn't deliver the full update this week. I was out of town on business. But I did sit down last night and fire up the DVR and zipped through all three hours of this week's Idol. (Thank God for the fast-forward button.) So here's my quick take on what I saw.

Crystal Bowersox - Even if she hadn't been hospitalized earlier in the week, she still out-distanced the competition by miles.

Didi Benami - "Lean On Me" was a tired song choice and she performed it like she was singing in a bar to a bunch of drunks. Awful.

Haeley Vaughn - Even though I think she had a lot of people rooting for her, she never really had a chance. She's only 16. She'll get better. She'll just have to do it at home.

Katelyn Epperly - How do you make "The Scientist" a slower song than it already is? It's as if she gulped down a couple of Demerol before the show. Ugh. It was the song that wouldn't end.

Katie Stevens - Am I the only person that thinks this girl is sensational? The "frustrated" judges keep asking her to be "younger" in her song choices, yet -- in my opinion -- she handles the more mature stuff pretty well. Wonder how the judges would have responded if she sang the Myley Cyrus song instead of Haeley? I like her.

Lacey Brown - I can barely look at her, much less listen to her sing. Let's hope next week is her last.

Lilly Scott - Better than last week. Still weird.

Michelle Delamor - "Arms Wide Open?" Really? Maybe someday on the cruise ship somebody will request that one. She should have been sent home simply for being stupid.

Paige Miles - Zzzzz.

Siobhan Magnus - The little white girl came out and nailed Aretha. She's elevated her status to contender. Awesome.

Aaron Kelly - Cute kid and a singer who is improving. With as little talent as there is on the boys side of the fence, he's likely to last through to the final twelve.

Alex Lambert - Not as bad as last week, but still not very good. Anybody else notice how shocked he is when Seacrest tells him he's not going home?

Andrew Garcia - The Paula Abdul cover got him into this spot and his inability to measure up to it will eventually get him sent home. He needs to be great again very quickly.

Casey James - Put down the guitar, Clapton. As I recall Bo Bice kicked this song's ass a couple of seasons ago. Casey isn't even close to being as good a performer as Bice. I know -- he's really cute.

Jermaine Sellers - It was like listening to Culture Club cover Marvin Gaye. See ya Jermaine.

John Park - Singing John Mayer -- poorly. Jessica Simpson has a reason to hate you now too.

Lee Dewyze - The judges covered for him again. I don't really see it yet.

Michael Lynche - He didn't play a little guitar this week, so already it's a better performance. Not a bad vocal. He may turn out to be a player.

Tim Urban - You heard it here first -- going home next week.

Toddrick Hall - He did a Tina Turner song so poorly that Ike came backstage to slap him.

That's it for this week. I'll be back in full swing next week.
